More Information

Zovirax Cold Sore Cream delivers the active ingredient aciclovir efficiently and deeply into your skin to combat the virus that causes cold sores. It works by killing or stopping the growth of viruses responsible for cold sores and genital herpes. Clinically proven to speed healing, it works at the tingle and the blister.

Always adhere to your doctor’s instructions precisely when using zovirax pump or tube. If unsure, consult your doctor or pharmacist for clarification. When applying the cream, ensure it is not used in the mouth, eyes, or vagina, and avoid mixing it with any substances, including water. Before and after application, wash your hands thoroughly. For both adults and children, apply a thin layer of the cream to the affected area five times daily, with each application spaced four hours apart (e.g., 7am, 11am, 3pm, 7pm, and 11pm). If cold sores persist beyond four days or genital herpes sores beyond five days, continue using the cream for an additional five days. Should the affected area remain unhealed after this extended period, discontinue use and consult your doctor promptly. For full details refer to the Patient Information Leaflet.

Zovirax, like all medications, may induce side effects, though not everyone experiences them. Potential side effects include allergic reactions, occurring in less than 1 in 10,000 individuals. Should an allergic reaction manifest, discontinue Zovirax and promptly seek medical attention. Symptoms may encompass skin rash, itching, or hives; swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or other body parts; shortness of breath, wheezing, or difficulty breathing; and unexplained fever accompanied by a sensation of faintness, particularly upon standing. Other side effects, occurring less frequently, include a transient burning or stinging sensation following cream application, mild skin dryness or flaking, and itching. Rarely, redness of the skin or a skin rash may occur. Should any side effects become severe or if you observe any unlisted side effects, promptly inform your doctor or pharmacist. For full details refer to the Patient Information Leaflet.
