To apply Voltarol gel 12 hour, follow these steps: First, ensure the tamper-evident seals are intact. For the flip-top lid cap, use a finger, thumb, side of your hand, or the edge of a table to open the cap. For the screw cap, unscrew and remove the cap, then use the reverse side to twist and remove the seal from the tube. Gently squeeze a small amount of gel onto the painful or swollen area and rub it in slowly. The amount needed varies, but typically an amount the size of a 1 penny to a 2 pence piece (2-4g) is sufficient. You may feel a slight cooling effect as you rub in the gel. Use the smallest effective amount, not exceeding 8g per day and 56g in one week. After use, clean any remaining gel from the flip-top cap with a cotton towel or absorbent paper until visually clean and dry. Close the cap until you hear a click, holding the tube upright to avoid leaks. Wash your hands after applying the gel, unless your hands are the treated area, to prevent accidental contact with the mouth and eyes. For full details refer to the Patient Information Leaflet.

Take special care when using Voltarol 12 Hour Joint Pain Relief 2.32% Gel. Do not apply the gel to skin with a rash, eczema, cuts, or open wounds, and discontinue use if a skin rash develops. Avoid applying the gel on large areas or for prolonged periods without medical advice. This gel is for external use only—do not use it in the mouth or swallow it. Wash your hands after use unless treating them, and avoid contact with the eyes; if contact occurs, rinse thoroughly with water and seek medical advice if discomfort persists. You can use a brace or wrap for injuries like sprains, but avoid using airtight bandages. If you have or have had stomach or duodenal ulcers, or asthma, consult your doctor or pharmacist before use. Additionally, avoid smoking or exposure to open flames while using the gel, as it can pose a serious fire hazard due to the increased flammability of fabrics that come into contact with the product. Washing may reduce but not completely remove the product buildup on fabrics. For full details refer to the Patient Information Leaflet.
