When using otex drops , it’s essential to only apply it to the ears. For adults, the elderly, and children, the recommended regimen involves repeating the following steps once or twice daily, typically over 3 to 4 days, until an improvement in hearing and reduction in discomfort are noticed. Start by turning the cap anti-clockwise to break the seal if it’s the first time using the drops. Then, remove the cap to expose the applicator nozzle. Tilt your head and gently squeeze up to 5 drops into the ear. Maintain your head tilt for a few minutes to allow the drops to remain in the ear, then wipe away any excess with a tissue. If necessary, repeat the process in the other ear. Remember to wash your hands after use and avoid plugging the ears with loose cotton wool. Always securely replace the cap after each use and store the bottle in its original carton.

Like all ear drops, Otex Express may cause side effects, although they are not experienced by everyone. One potential effect is a temporary mild bubbling sensation in the ear, attributed to the release of oxygen as the drops break down ear wax. Additionally, the ear drops can exacerbate symptoms of excessive ear wax, including discomfort, irritation, pain, loss of hearing, dizziness, and tinnitus (ringing sound in the ear), particularly if attempts to remove the ear wax have been made using fingernails, cotton buds, or other implements. This can occur due to potential damage to the delicate inner lining of the ear, leading to swelling or infection, making the use of ear drops painful. Furthermore, if ear syringing has been performed within the last 2 to 3 days, it may also cause discomfort when using the eardrops. For full details refer to the Patient Information Leaflet
