More Information

Imodium

Do not take Imodium if you’ve had a severe reaction to any of its ingredients, if it’s for a child under 12 (or under 18 for an IBS patient), if you experience severe diarrhoea after taking antibiotics, during a flare-up of inflammatory bowel conditions like ulcerative colitis, if constipated or if your stomach appears swollen, especially in severely dehydrated children, or if you have acute dysentery with symptoms like blood in stools and a high temperature. If any of these conditions apply, consult a doctor or pharmacist and refrain from taking Imodium. For full details refer to the Patient Information Leaflet.

If you are unable to take Imodium why not try Buscopan.

Before starting or continuing with this medication, it’s crucial to have a conversation with your doctor, especially if you fall under certain medical conditions or circumstances. If you’re living with AIDS and notice swelling in your stomach, cease taking the capsules immediately and reach out to your healthcare provider. Similarly, if you have liver disease, experience prolonged diarrhoea lasting more than 48 hours, or have been diagnosed with an intolerance to certain sugars, consulting your doctor is paramount. Severe diarrhoea, which can lead to significant fluid, sugar, and salt loss, warrants medical attention as well. Additionally, if you’re on other medications such as ritonavir for HIV treatment, quinidine for heart rhythm irregularities or malaria, oral desmopressin for excessive urination, itraconazole or ketoconazole for fungal infections, or gemfibrozil for high cholesterol, it’s essential to inform your doctor. If you have any doubts or questions about your current medication regimen, don’t hesitate to consult with your pharmacist for further clarification or guidance. For full details refer to the Patient Information Leaflet.
