Propranolol is a medication classified as a beta-blocker, which affects the heart, circulation, and various other parts of the body. It is utilised for a range of conditions, including hypertension (high blood pressure), angina pectoris (chest pain), and certain arrhythmias (disorders of heart rhythm). Additionally, Propranolol is used for protecting the heart after a myocardial infarction (heart attack), preventing migraines, treating essential tremor, managing anxiety, and addressing specific thyroid conditions such as thyrotoxicosis caused by an overactive thyroid gland. It is also effective for treating hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (thickened heart muscle), phaeochromocytoma (a tumour near the kidney causing high blood pressure), and bleeding in the oesophagus or stomach resulting from high blood pressure in the liver.

Propranolol is a prescription-only medication in the United Kingdom, which means you must first consult with a doctor, either in person or online, before taking it. After completing an online consultation, you can order Propranolol from reputable online pharmacies in a secure and timely manner.

Do not take Propranolol tablets and inform your doctor if you are allergic to Propranolol or any of the other ingredients of this medicine. Additionally, avoid taking Propranolol if you have untreated or uncontrolled heart failure, are in shock caused by heart problems, suffer from heart conduction or rhythm problems (such as second or third-degree heart block or sick sinus syndrome), have a slow heart rate, or have low blood pressure. Do not take this medicine if you experience severe blood circulation problems (which may cause your fingers and toes to tingle or turn pale or blue), suffer from diabetes mellitus (as low blood sugar levels may be hidden by this medicine), have increased acidity of the blood (metabolic acidosis), are on a strict fasting diet, or suffer from a tight, painful feeling in the chest during periods of rest (Prinzmetal’s angina). Additionally, avoid taking Propranolol if you suffer from asthma or any other breathing difficulties, or if you have untreated phaeochromocytoma (high blood pressure due to a tumour near the kidney). For full details refer to the Patient Information Leaflet.

Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken, or might take any other medicines, as Propranolol can interfere with the action of some medications, and some medicines can affect Propranolol tablets. The medicines that can cause problems when taken together with Propranolol tablets include insulin (for diabetes), ergotamine, dihydroergotamine, or rizatriptan (for migraines), disopyramide, quinidine, amiodarone, and propafenone (for irregular heartbeats), digitalis glycosides (digoxin) (for heart conditions), verapamil, diltiazem, nifedipine, nisoldipine, nicardipine, isradipine, lacidipine, and dihydropyridine (for heart diseases), adrenaline (used in anaphylactic shock), lidocaine (for irregular heartbeats or as a local anaesthetic), cimetidine (for stomach ulcers), hydralazine (for high blood pressure), and clonidine (for hypertension or migraines). If you are taking clonidine and Propranolol together, do not stop taking clonidine unless instructed by your doctor, who will provide careful instructions if discontinuation is necessary. Other medicines that can interact with Propranolol include ibuprofen and indometacin (for pain and inflammation), chlorpromazine and thioridazine (for psychiatric illnesses), anaesthetics, warfarin (to thin the blood), rifampicin (for infections), and theophylline (for asthma). For full details refer to the Patient Information Leaflet.
